Salesforce to Buy Loops, Pushing Tableau From Dashboards to 'Why Did This Number Move?'

Salesforce signed a definitive agreement on October 12 to acquire Loops, the Israeli analytics startup founded in 2020, and will fold the technology into Tableau once the deal closes in early November of Salesforce’s fiscal 2027. Financial terms weren’t disclosed. The Israeli outlet Calcalist pegged the price around $30 million, an estimate repeated by Crypto Briefing and Beri.net; neither Salesforce nor Loops has confirmed it.
The acquisition is less about adding another visualization layer than about retiring one. Loops, led by CEO Tom Laufer and CTO Ido Adiv, monitors KPIs in real time, uses causal models to rank the factors behind a metric change by estimated impact, and simulates A/B tests when traffic is too thin for a real one. Its Scout agent pushes ranked explanations and alerts into Slack, Microsoft Teams, and email. The pitch, in industry shorthand, is agentic analytics: the dashboard stops being a destination and starts being a sender.
Mark Recher, EVP and GM of Tableau, framed the logic in the press release, saying the deal “accelerates this mission, using powerful agentic AI to uncover the drivers behind business performance and surface where teams and agents can take action in real time.” Laufer, for his part, said the acquisition lets Loops “bring what we’ve built to customers at an entirely new scale.”
The strategic read is straightforward. Salesforce has spent the year pointing every surface it owns toward autonomous action, part of what it calls its agentic analytics strategy. Loops gives Tableau the diagnostic half of that loop: not what happened, which dashboards already show, but which lever moved it. For buyers whose pipeline charts have always answered the easy question and ducked the hard one, that’s the pitch.
A caveat worth keeping. As Superpower Daily noted, nothing has shipped. Salesforce has announced a proposed acquisition, not a finished integration, and Loops’s current capabilities aren’t a Tableau feature until they’re. The deal closes before the product does, which is the order these stories usually run in, and the order in which the gap between slide and SKU tends to widen.
