Workato opens Otto to individuals and small teams with a 30-day free trial
Otto by Workato, previously enterprise-only, is now self-serve in Slack, on the web, and via SMS, plugging one AI superagent into Gmail, Salesforce, Shopify, and more than 1,400 connected apps.
Workato opened Otto, its autonomous AI superagent, to individuals and small teams on August 27, 2026, four months after debuting the product for enterprise employees. MarTech Series reported the shift, which drops Otto into Slack, the web, and SMS with a 30-day free trial and 500 credits, gated behind neither procurement nor a security review.
The pivot is a category tell. Otto was engineered for the kind of internal-tools sprawl that only large companies typically carry, but the go-to-market surface it now presents, self-serve trial into Slack, is priced and packaged for the 5-to-30-person B2B teams that can’t hire an ops engineer to wire it up.
Otto’s reach is the pitch. The product page names more than 20 mainstream work apps, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Outlook, GitLab, GitHub, Shopify, and Salesforce, and sits on top of Workato’s 1,400-plus connector ecosystem. Reasoning runs on Claude via the Claude Agent SDK, with other frontier models handling image, audio, and video work. Pro and multi-seat Team plans sit above the trial.
The workflow Workato demoed at the enterprise launch remains the clearest illustration of what it wants Otto to do: detect a usage drop on a $400K account, pull signals from Gong and Salesforce, and coordinate a response plan across the CSM and AE before Friday morning. “Otto takes on projects, keeps us posted on prospects and deals, and keeps the team in sync,” said Rene Brandel, CEO of Casco, in the August 27 launch.
That framing collides with the incumbents. Salesforce and Anthropic unveiled Claudeforce this month, embedding Claude across Salesforce, Slack, and Agentforce with 37 prebuilt sales skills and an open beta scheduled for September. Agentforce itself is running at $1.5 billion ARR. Otto’s counter isn’t feature depth; it’s the absence of a sales call. A founder can start it tonight, on the same Slack workspace already handling the pipeline.
Whether that’s enough depends on what a governed superagent is actually worth when the credit meter starts running.
