Webflow's Source Turns Marketing Teams Into Agent Managers

At Webflow Conf 2026, the company unveiled a research-preview platform where AI agents build, monitor, and optimize the site alongside marketers — plus a Campaigns product tying landing pages to HubSpot and Salesforce.

At Webflow Conf 2026 in Boston on September 2, Webflow unveiled Source, a limited research preview it’s pitching as a shared canvas where marketers and AI agents co-run the website. Applications open at webflow.com/source. A separate product, Webflow Campaigns, wires landing pages to ad creative and pipes leads into HubSpot and Salesforce; it ships later this fall.

The framing is deliberate. Webflow, which now serves more than 300,000 companies and roughly 2,000 Certified Webflow Partners, is arguing that the post-launch phase of a website, brand work, SEO, answer-engine visibility, conversion tests, has been stranded by tools built for developers. Source is the bet that the growth loop belongs to marketers with agents, not engineers with copilots.

“Ten years ago, we believed giving more people the power to build would change who could shape the web, and it has. Now agents are putting that same kind of power into the hands of every person on the team, and the transformation will be even more profound,” said CEO Linda Tong. She sketched the org-chart implication bluntly: “instead of hiring 10 content writers, you might hire a content strategist who’s thinking about how your content should operate across your team, and then works with a team of agents to actually generate a lot of that content.”

The practical target is a 5-to-30-person marketing org that wants AI without git, branches, and pull requests. Agents monitor site performance continuously, flag AEO and conversion gaps, and draft fixes for human approval; Agent Presence puts them on the canvas next to teammates, and every change lands in the activity log this month. New MCP capabilities, plus Webflow Cloud deploy tooling from Claude Code and Cursor, arrive the same window. Asset production from the Vidoso acquisition follows early next year.

Webflow’s directional evidence: between May 19 and July 13, 2026, 158 customers accepted its AEO recommendations and 187 didn’t. The company concedes the split doesn’t isolate AEO from seasonality or indexing changes. Forbes framed the launch as an “AI pilled” bet on marketing teams, citing Salesforce research that 75% of marketers have already adopted AI.

“Clients used to ask us about AI for one reason: speed. Now they expect it to scale across the website lifecycle and make them better marketers, not just faster ones,” said Matt Varughese, Partner/CEO of agency 8020.

Read against ActiveCampaign’s Wavelength AI and Gemini 3.8 Flash’s AI Mode shifts, the pattern is legible: the marketing stack is being rebuilt around agents that decide, not dashboards that display.
